As you might expect, undertaking work on an operational university campus comes with a number of important considerations. Noise and dust control were important factors for this project, to ensure minimal disruption for the students and staff. In addition to this, tight asbestos removal controls were needed to ensure the safety of all involved.

This project involved asbestos removal and full demolition of the existing AC Building and Lecture Theatre, a 3 level Link Bridge and a range of other works, including removal of the associated foundations and tunnel. Asbestos removal was undertaken prior to the commencement of the demolition works, and all works were carried out with noise and dust restrictions, and within a tight programme. The 17m high building with its associated link bridge to the neighbouring building was manually separated. Surrounding trees were well protected during the demolition works.

The client was satisfied with Green Way’s performance on this project. Overall we attained over 96% landfill diversion, far exceeding the client expectations.
